This ongoing artistic exploration with the Colour Feels series is a collision of texture, colour, pattern and paper. There is notable reference, both in aesthetic approach and name, found in colour field painting form the 1940’s and 50’s. But this historical approach is made anew with Karla’s signature medium, paper. As well has her contemporary urban themes, inspiration and humour.

There is a push and pull of destruction and creation in her work. The process of the artworks creation, through destruction, is consciously showcased and seen with the ripped edges of each piece of torn paper; which are painstakingly reassembled into a new, exciting conversation of colour and texture.
